The Fellowship

Who we are

The Fellowship is a charitable learning community rooted in mutual aid, spiritual growth, and community uplift. Substantially all of the Fellowship’s activities are for pleasure, recreational, educational, and other nonprofit purposes, and no part of the Fellowship’s net earnings inures to the benefit of a private shareholder.

The Fellowship was formed by people who learned to survive and grow against all odds, and who now choose to guide, connect, convene, and amplify the empowerment of marginalized persons from our communities, primarily the poor.

What we do

Through shared work and learning, the Fellowship provides members with:

A structured environment to create goals and better understand their strengths and weaknesses.

A new way to interact and network with a team, improving communication skills needed to succeed.

Practical experience in event planning, fundraising, project management, and leadership.

Philanthropic opportunities to volunteer and positively impact the community.

Personal growth through skill building, educational programs, and experiential learning.

Social opportunities and gatherings that enrich the experience of belonging.

Members are encouraged to engage in educational, recovery-oriented, trade, or skill-building programs and to always be working toward an active personal goal, whether that means reading a new book, taking a class, or learning a new skill.

Our values

The Fellowship’s public code of honor emphasizes:

Charity and service – Working and serving on behalf of the Fellowship’s religious, educational, and charitable goals, including care of the poor and forms of spiritual or personal renewal.

Self-improvement – A commitment to ongoing learning and skill building so that members can better themselves, support their families, and contribute to their community.

Respect and safety – Protecting children from harm, honoring mutual consent in intimate relationships, rejecting exploitation and abuse, and maintaining an environment where people can heal and grow.

Integrity – Avoiding lying, stealing, and envy within the Fellowship; owning one’s actions; and working where possible to correct harms caused to others.

Unity and mutual aid – Believing that our common welfare comes first and that relief from the pitfalls of poverty and oppression depends on unity, shared experience, and helping others like ourselves.

How people engage

Participation in the Fellowship is voluntary and rooted in each person’s own choice to seek growth, belonging, and service.

Members are encouraged to:

Attend gatherings regularly and support the Fellowship’s charitable and educational work with time, talent, or resources as they are able.

Share their experience, power, skills, and ideas so that together we may solve common problems.

Focus on constructive action rather than mere criticism, backing up concerns with willingness to help build solutions.

Speak well of other members to outsiders and refrain from publicizing one another’s defects, focusing instead on virtues and growth.

The Fellowship exists for people who want to do together what they cannot do alone. Becoming part of the Fellowship is not a one-time event but an ongoing decision to live by a shared code of honor, support one another, and serve the broader community.
